Taran Horenstein, (AMFT #161716)
Therapist | Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
How I Help
My approach is highly person-centered, meeting clients where they are and moving at a pace that feels safe and supportive. I take time to build strong therapeutic relationships and develop individualized treatment plans that reflect each client’s unique goals and needs. I integrate an attachment-based lens to help clients understand how early relationships shape current patterns. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing to deepen self-awareness and bring a solution-focused perspective to clients dealing with challenges. My style is warm, encouraging, and nonjudgmental, creating a space where clients feel safe and comfortable exploring all parts of themselves.Who I Work With
I work with children, teens, and adults, and have experience supporting clients in both school and community mental health settings. I spent a year in a middle school, where I supported students and collaborated closely with parents, and later worked in a community behavioral health clinic with adults, including veterans.
I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, self-esteem challenges, school stress, family dynamics, relationship issues, and anger management. I am especially passionate about helping clients feel truly seen beyond their struggles and supported in building a strong sense of self.

About Me
I was born and raised in the Bay Area and have been working with children and families for over 10 years. In high school, I participated in a program that allowed me to take college courses, where I discovered my passion for psychology and realized I wanted to help people better understand themselves. I deeply value authentic human connection and bring a naturally curious, compassionate mindset into my work with each client.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends, cooking new meals, going crabbing/fishing, and dancing! Recently, I’ve been exploring new hobbies, such as more intricate video games and a variety of board games.
